What’s the difference between “food safety inspection” & “food safety audit” ?

Andrew Betts

Inspections asses the Physical environment and working practices associated with the process. The aim to identify potential hazards, control, mitigate or eliminate

Audits are basically verifications that our inspections, controls and measures are effective.

Example you inspect ccp (ie sieve) to identify any contamination or foriegn bodies to promote investigation. You audit the haccp for a process to review effectiveness and ensure it is implemented as prescribe.

Basically:

Inspection = physical failure. Audit = Non – conformance.

Inspection = QC, Audit = QA
