Application Note – Bioaerosol N.3 – The use of Contact Plates for surface monitoring
Introduction
Practical, readily available information on the efficacy of a sanitization procedure may be obtained by demonstrating its activity on a previously contaminated surface.
The contact plates are easily used for this purpose to evaluate:
A. If the general environment is adequately clean
B. If plants and accessories are regularly sanitized
C. The correct use of disinfectant and cleaning procedures
D. The training of the staff
The microbiological control of surfaces is a key point to:
- apply the “Good Manufacturing Practice”
- validate cleaning and disinfection operations
- control the quality and correct use of detergent and disinfectant
- implement the HACCP
- conform “Food Safety Act” and “FDA”
Sampling protocol
Follow all the details listed on the “Microbiological surface sampling report”.
