Methods for Antioxidants and Flavanols in Foods
An AOAC expert review panel (ERP), chaired by James Harnly of the U.S. Department of Agriculture has granted First Action status to methods for antioxidants and flavanols in foods. Methods were evaluated against standard method performance requirements (SMPRs) developed and approved through voluntary stakeholder consensus.

The AOAC Stakeholder Panel on Strategic Foods Analytical Methods (SPSFAM), chaired by Lou Anne Blanchard of Mondelez International, Inc. (formerly Kraft Foods) and Arti Arora of The Coca-Cola Co., reached consensus and approved standard method performance requirements (SMPRs) for ingredients (vitamins A, D, E, and K) and heavy metals in foods.
Determination of hypericins, hyperforins
AOAC INTERNATIONAL (AOAC) announces the availability of draft Standard Method Performance Requirements (SMPRs) for Determination of hypericins, hyperforins, and flavonoids in St.John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum) and other Hypericum spp. These draft SMPRs represent the stakeholder panel deliberations. The public comment period closes Friday, March 1, 2013. Comments will be compiled and reviewed, and the documents may be revised if necessary, based on comments received.
